New product: "faitfhul" Dino Horn Button Reproduction

New product: "faithful" Dino Horn Push Reproduction

on ferrarichat.com there was an ongoing discussion about the available Dino horn buttons and their deviation compared to the original Dino Horn Pushes.:

Left hand the reproductions compared to an original button on the right hand. As you see the reproductions in contrast to the original has a tinny knob, dull housing and the glare ring is plastic instead of metall.

We took these deviations as a good reason to take care for a faithfull reproduciton of the horn buttons.

First step was to make sure that the emblem itself could be made. The challenge is that the demanded quantity is to small for the production method that is usually used for these products. But since this is our daily struggle we have a good supplier for that. It took time but we were very pleased with the first test print already:

So it was time to order the embossing tool for the silver lining around the Dino script and to CAD the mechanical components:

As Stefan did not want to leave all the fun to our suppliers, he made the base for the emblems in house on the lathe:

The horn button housing is vacuum casted and for the glare ring and contact spacer we had to get a press tool made. The result was a nice kit ready for assembly:

First step of assembly is to rivet the contacts:

Next put the emblem on its base to build the knob, and then everything into the housing.

The result is pleasing:

Important question: How original is this horn button?

If you look at it long enough you will spot a deviation in the yellow and blue in certain lights. But as confirmed by other genuine critical dino experts the deviation is as small that it most probably is withing the production deviation back then. Also with the button not installed you can see that the rear differs since not all embellishments were copied. This gives those a chance to distinguish who still are on the search for a original button and not for a copie, no matter how good the copy is.
